Compact and reliable

Cables are exposed to very high tensile forces during installation and often also during operation. If the tensile strength is just sufficient for the installation, the forces acting on the cable can increase the fiber elongation. This means a higher load and thus a shortened fiber lifetime. To counteract this, the BU Multimedia Solutions (MMS) of the Prysmian Group has extremely high tensile strength and compact fiber optic central trunk cables in its portfolio.

The gel-filled non-metallic cable types E08a, E10a, E20, E22 and E25 have a tensile strength of 3,000 N. The non-metallic cable type E09a even withstands loads of up to 4,000 N, the two cable models E14a and E16a 2,000 N. Thanks to improved production technologies, MMS has achieved that the central loose tube cables E08a, E10a, E20, E22 and E25 have the same tube diameter for 24 fibres as for 2 fibres. The cable diameter for 24-fiber cables has thus been greatly reduced. The cables are very compact. The high tensile strength with reduced diameters provides users with double benefits.

The metal-armoured cable versions E06a, E07a, E19 and E21 also have a tensile strength of 3,000 N.

Application area of the central loose tube cables
The universal fiber optic cables E07a, E10a, E14a, E19, E20, E21, E22 and E25 with central loose tube serve as house entry cables for pipe laying, LAN communication and as riser cables indoors. The fiber optic outdoor cables E06a, E08 and E09a are used in the primary area (campus backbone) and in telecommunication backbones. All cables comply with the requirements of ISO 118011, EN 50173-1:2002, IEC 60794-1, TIA GR20, ICEA 640 and ICEA 696. The design of the central tube allows a cost-effective and thin cable construction. The cables are UV resistant, waterproof, rodent proof, halogen free and flame retardant, making them equally suitable for indoor and outdoor use. With the central loose tube cables, users receive excellent quality in a compact design at a reasonable price and thus the highest investment protection.
