Connect Com AG relies on Draka data cables

Connect Com AG has implemented the cabling of its new company building in Rothenburg near Lucerne with Draka copper and fibre optic cables. Part of the company's internal cabling solution are the UC1500 SS22 and UC900 SS23 copper cable models as well as the fibre optic cables of the microduct Sirocco High Density (HD) cable series. The high availability, fast data transmission and their reliability as well as fire safety and packing density of the Draka cables scored points with the Swiss manufacturer and provider of solutions for communication networks.

Connect Com offers a comprehensive range of services and products in the field of passive fibre optic network infrastructure for buildings, data centres, broadband, control systems, industry and FTTx. The company, founded in 1993, sets the highest standards for the components of its cabling systems. This also applies to the company's internal Copper-T cabling system, which CCM used to cable the rented premises of its new company headquarters.

High-performance copper cables with maximum fire protection

The Copper-T cabling system, a twisted pair/copper cabling solution, comprises coordinated cables, connection technology and distribution systems. When it comes to the cable manufacturer, CCM relies on Draka: in addition to the Sirocco High Density (HD) fibre optic hybrid cable for networking the server room, the UC1500 SS22 and UC900 SS23 copper cables were installed. With their halogen-free and flame-retardant protective jackets, both Draka cables meet the highest fire protection standards according to the EU Construction Products Regulation (CPR) Class Dca and guarantee very low smoke (s1) and acid development (a1) as well as minimised dripping behaviour (d1).

About eleven kilometres of the UC1500 SS22 Cat.7A S/FTP Dca s1 d1 a1 network cable were laid. The cable, which is extremely robust against mechanical influences, is the first 25 GBase-T data cable to be GHMT-certified according to DTR 11801-9905. With its small outer diameter of 7.6 millimetres, it has a 20 percent higher packing density than comparable conventional cables. About 40 kilometres of the UC900 SS23 Cat.7 S/FTP Dca s1 d1 a1 copper installation cable were used. It transmits data at a speed of 10 Gbit/s and a bandwidth of 1000 MHz. With highly flexible, tight bending radii, the cable enables installations even in very confined areas.

Sirocco High Density (HD) with bend-resistant fibres

CCM realised the networking of the server room with the backup server centre with fibre optic hybrid cables and used Draka fibre optic cables from the Sirocco High Density (HD) microduct cable series for this purpose. The product series has the smallest diameters currently available on the market and the highest fibre densities in blown microchannel cables. Sirocco HD microduct cables are equipped with bend-resistant fibres, making them suitable for installation in more advanced systems. At the same time, they are a future-proof solution for increasing density in optical networks. Designed for installation in micro ducts, they are ideal for blowing into high density access, FTTx and 5G networks.
